‘Mixtape #25 – Blacken the Sound, Kill the White Noise’ is a musical journey that will take you on a ride through different genres and moods. With 18 tracks carefully selected by Funky Soul Burner, this mixtape showcases some of the best music out there that you may not have heard before.

The mixtape starts off with a soulful, bluesy tune ‘Bruk Pocket Lament’ by The Heavy, followed by the experimental rock sounds of Plus-Minus with their track ‘Profession’. The Jimi Hendrix Experience then takes the stage with their psychedelic rock hit ‘Up from the Skies’, before transitioning to the indie pop melodies of Psapp with ‘Needle and Thread’.

Circa Survive’s ‘Kicking Your Crosses Down’ adds a rock edge to the mix, while Modselecktor’s ‘Hasir’ brings in electronic and experimental beats. Refused’s ‘Refused Are Fuckin Dead’ is a punk rock anthem that pumps up the energy, followed by the dreamy sounds of TV On The Radio with ‘Golden Age’. Pivot’s ‘Sing, You Sinners’ adds a jazz-inspired rhythm to the mix, while Lou Rhodes’ ‘Rain’ slows it down with her melancholic vocals.

Boom Boom Satellites’ ‘Six Forty Five’ and Zach Hill & Mick Barr’s ‘Parallel Patchwork Abduction’ both showcase the experimental side of the mixtape, while Bonobo’s ‘Change Down’ blends in some chill electronic beats. OutKast’s ‘Da Art of Storytellin’ (Part I)’ and David Holmes’ ‘The Story of the Ink’ are both hip-hop tracks that bring in a narrative element to the mixtape.

The mixtape ends on a strong note with The Field’s ‘Sun & Ice’, a techno track that builds up to an epic finale, and Ellen Allien’s ‘The Brain Is Lost’, which combines techno with a more experimental sound. Depeche Mode’s ‘John the Revelator’ concludes the mixtape on a darker and more ominous note.
