22 October 2022: This is the one hundred and sixteenth mixtape by the Funky Soul Burner. Happy Halloween 2022! I hope you find a peaceful energy and flow in this mix. As the cover and name implies, perhaps there is a misconception to be uncovered in the idea of this season. Also will give my brother, Ryan Pollastro, his flower for providing a dope remix to one of our favorite artists.
The Funky Soul Burner’s MIXTAPE 116: “Why Know Dragon Flower for Skeleton Love” was released near Halloween, and the tracklist reflects that with eerie and haunting tracks. The mix starts with an intro from Natasja before transitioning into JID’s “Lauder Too”, featuring Ravynn Lenae and Eryn Allen Kane. The haunting theme continues with Symba’s “Blessings” and L. Shankar’s “Tanam Kiravani”, featuring Zakir Hussain and T.H. Vinayakram. Plastikman’s “EXpand” brings a dark, industrial sound to the mix, while Dyzzy’s “Eden” creates an eerie and atmospheric soundscape. Nitin Sawhney’s “Redshift” featuring J’Danna adds an otherworldly element to the mix, while Kenny Beats’ “Moire” and “So They” provide a haunting and ominous vibe.
The Mars Volta’s “Flash Burns From Flashbacks” and Forq’s “Tiny Soul (flymyspcshp rebuild)” maintain the mix’s eerie tone, while Santigold’s “My Horror” adds a touch of darkness. Abstract Tribe Unique’s “Somethin’ About This Music (Ryan Pollastro’s The Scorpion REMIX)” is another highlight, with its dark, ominous beat.
