“Kinetic Pulse” is a mixtape that will make you want to move. From the opening track by Lusine, “Figment,” the energy of the mixtape is palpable. Phoenix Orion’s “Cyberchristclone” and Sonic Youth’s “Hoarfrost” bring a raw intensity to the mix, while Bert Jansch and Beth Orton’s “Katie Cruel” and Rodrigo Y Gabriela’s “Diablo Rojo” add a folksy charm. The Esbjörn Svensson Trio’s “Goldwrap” is a jazzy interlude, leading into the infectious beats of !!!’s “Yadnus” and Sam Sparro’s “Cottonmouth.”
Lou Rhodes’ “Tremble” slows things down a bit, while Booka Shade’s “Outskirts” builds towards a thrilling crescendo. Darc Mind’s “Visions Of A Blur” is a trip-hop gem, followed by Electric President’s “Metal Fingers,” which has a haunting quality. CéU’s “Valsa Pra Biu Roque” and Fink’s “Make It Good” bring a touch of world music to the mix, before the final track, Modeselektor feat. Siriusmo’s “Deboutonner,” brings things to a satisfying close.
